Insectie's 3D stuff
I'm up late, bored, and people have seemed to like it, so I guess I'll post some of my cool stuff up for everyone to view. Feel free to comment on them as well!
*Warning! Large images to follow*
My first one I'll put up is the Guardian:
Not sure why its called that, but it has 21 limbs and has been a bitch to animate.
Most recent version:
First version, where things aren't smoothed, textured, lit well or raytraced and the claws haven't been made all different yet.
Concept Art:

Re: Insectie's 3D stuff
There will be when I get the time...
In the meantime, some behind the scenes goodies:
Wireframe:
Fun facts: That green grid thing is the 3D texture on the model, the sun thing at the top is an ambient light and the arrows are a directional light.
Bones:
Note that I haven't had the time to bone the other half of the arms, as since each claw is different, it takes a while.
Fun fact: The bones in brown have an IK solver on them, meaning I can move the end of the leg/arm and all the joints up to the base of the solver will rotate and move accordingly.

Re: Insectie's 3D stuff
The spider ship I had as my sig for a while
Wireframe:
Forward lasers firing (glow effects are sorta meh sometimes):
Armament breakdown:
2 really big lasers - head
12 lasers front legs
14 lasers second legs
5 x 8 quad laser turrets - top thorax = 160
8 quad turrets - bottom thorax = 32
30 quad turrents on abdomen = 120
total 338 medium lasers
large ventral carrier bay
It must also be noted that this isn't an atomically correct spider, for true arachnids have only two body segments, but it looks bad-ass so I ignored that.

Re: Insectie's 3D stuff
This ship is the competition to the Spider Ship.
Top view:
Front view (orthogonal):
41 double turrets each wing = 164
16 double turrets each middle side = 64
48 double turrets half round body = 192
3 double turrets top of half body = 12
1 back turret = 2
2 top turrets = 4
5 triple turrets front body top
15 triple top round body top
small carrier bay
120 total heavy lasers
438 medium lasers
I feel like its missing something though... any suggestions?

Re: Insectie's 3D stuff
Little attachments for minature ships or more guns, you can never have enough guns [like mini-guns or laserbeams or awesome particle cannons]

Re: Insectie's 3D stuff
I guess it could.
All of these guns are already lasers by the way. They just look like traditional guns because it makes it look more battleship-y.
Now here's a particle cannon:
Actually though, all of the weapons you mentioned can be found in my next generation spectre gunship (like the AC-130)
The swing wings allow it to fly to its target and escape rapidly while swept back, and forward they allow it the low speed maneuverability it needs to fix its guns on its target.
Swing wing video:
The weapons you mentioned, from left to right are a shredder minigun, twin PPCs (particle projectile cannons), and a heavy laser.
And gummi ship? Eh... I don't know. I'm not a fangirl remember... though it would make you happy, which directly translates to making me happy... I'll think about it.

Re: Insectie's 3D stuff
It's just a bunch of blocks put together in the shape of a ship. I doubt it'd be too hard.
Re: Insectie's 3D stuff
Here's something that isn't a robot or spaceship:
The Black Reaver (I might change the name, depends):
An enchantment placed on this sword prevents it from breaking, ever.
Detail:
Fun fact: The characters on it are actual kana, though they don't say anything meaningful.
You can tell that I did this a while ago; the lighting is terrible.
Concept art:
This is all for a character in my stories; this is her sword and primary weapon.
Thoughts? Feedback?

Re: Insectie's 3D stuff
A new spaceship for you all!
The Osiris, Amon-Re class battlecruiser:
From my story:
Solar Cannon:
From left to right:
Isis, Set, Osiris, Amon Re
The Amon Re was the first ship of the line, hence its name.
The Osiris is simply an upgraded version with a second pair of wing structures.
The Set features heavier armor and more lasers along its larger wing.
The Isis has less lasers, but larger hangar bays to carry more fighters.
And for those skeptical of the solar cannon, here's a diagram of how the light bounces outside/within the ship and gets focused:
As before, any thoughts, comments, feedback, etc?
The Osiris, Amon-Re class battlecruiser:
From my story:
The Osiris, Amon Re class battleship. The Amon Re class is the single most powerful class ever built by humans and a marvel of engineering. Four were made, Amon Re, Osiris, Isis, and Set all named after long lost ancient Gods. Each one is unique, and the class was never mass produced. They were designed to be Bobcorp.’s flagships, leading the attack to neutralize the Navy, the biggest threat to Bob’s takeover plan. Being a flagship and to combat ships, the Amon Re class had superior armor and weapons to any other ship. Banks of super-heavy Pulse Lasers and countless intermediate lasers, supported by a massive fusion generator and cooling systems, made them capable of cutting ships to pieces and their energy ray shields could survive anything the Navy could throw at them. On top of all that, there was the Solar Cannon. Using a complex array of mirrors and a series of lenses, starlight could be focused into a single beam of light so intense it simply melts ships or can burn a square kilometer on a planet’s surface. A drawback of this system is that the beam melts the primary lens in less than a second and it must be replaced after every firing. Of course too its power is significantly reduced in deep space, but is immense in combat on planetary system scale. The Solar Cannon gives the Amon Re its name, for Amon Re was an archaic deity of creation and the sun. The ship before me, however, was Osiris, the god of the dead. A Blood-red paint covered up the Bobcorp. dark blue. Large plates of metal reinforced parts of the hull and extra laser turrets dotted the ship.
No one really knew what happened to them; they all disappeared after Bobcorp.’s fall. Well I guess I now know where one went.

Re: Insectie's 3D stuff
You know, you could make some money off these if you made stuff for Second Life.
Re: Insectie's 3D stuff
Does my diagram of the solar cannon mechanism help my explanation the other day?

Beam saber:
I apologize for the JPEG-ness...
Hilt:
A new one I'm working on:
Background on it:
It's used by the master and trainer of the first sword's owner, who later becomes evil and duels with this former apprentice. (It might have a different color scheme to represent its evil-ness)
Now I have a question:
Any ideas for decorating the beam-emitter part? And I have no clue what to do for the pommel...

Re: Insectie's 3D stuff
Probably make a handguard. How about the beamsaber diamond thing opens up to create one?
Re: Insectie's 3D stuff
*thinks* No, but I think the beam saber you've made would look cooler with one.
Re: Insectie's 3D stuff
On the first one, maybe instead of having the globe inside it, you could have the entire pommel glow.
Re: Insectie's 3D stuff
You realize I'm talking entirly about the 2nd right? The first one is done. #2 is the work in progress that currently lacks something.
