I wish I had played Okami, but sadly I can't. Great name though.

Amaterasu isn't just from Okami, though that's probably where this name originated. XD Amaterasu is the Sun Goddess in Japanese mythology and appears in many anime, though she hasn't been in anything mainstream for quite some time if ever.
Ah, sorry, it just reminded me of Okami. sweatdrop

No worries. Very Happy I'm just a source of useless information, and it amazes me how many people don't realize that characters like Amaterasu or Loki are from mythology. Smile I blame public schooling. All they care about is Greek mythology, nothing actually cool.
Yeah, I wish schools taught Japanese mythology, it's so much cooler then Greek mythology. Sad But I guess we all do have the internet...

And the local library. Libraries usually have at least two or three books with a country's mythology in them. Smile I read Norse that way.
Well, I know what I'll be checking my school library for after I finish "Future Diary Vol. 3"

Destiny's Gate: Although I know of the myth I did base it off Okami. My family names all our computers after dogs, and I have my own theme of naming them after dogs with songs. My brother suggested Amaterasu because the songs in Okami count as being his as he is the main character.
Also, Future Diary is awesome. ^_^ It is very bloody.
