Amaterasu isn't just from Okami, though that's probably where this name originated.Amaterasu is the Sun Goddess in Japanese mythology and appears in many anime, though she hasn't been in anything mainstream for quite some time if ever.

No worries.I'm just a source of useless information, and it amazes me how many people don't realize that characters like Amaterasu or Loki are from mythology.
I blame public schooling. All they care about is Greek mythology, nothing actually cool.
But I guess we all do have the internet...
And the local library. Libraries usually have at least two or three books with a country's mythology in them.I read Norse that way.

I'll send it in a PM with a link to be my friend there._________________

Destiny's Gate: Although I know of the myth I did base it off Okami. My family names all our computers after dogs, and I have my own theme of naming them after dogs with songs. My brother suggested Amaterasu because the songs in Okami count as being his as he is the main character.
Also, Future Diary is awesome. ^_^ It is very bloody.
