The Pro-Gay/Anti-Gay Movement
What's with all the crazies crawling out of the woodwork lately?
As you all probably know, I'm pretty much pro-freedom. Pro-choice, pro-homosexual marriage, etc. The news lately has been making me shake my head.
So this thread's for all the news related to pro-gay and (probably more common) anti-gay stuff. So, good, bad, ugly in the news.
Pastor Advocates Killing Gays (dumb dumb)

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/05/30/kansas-pastor-calls-on-u-s-government-to-kill-lgbt-people/ (this one quotes him more than the others if you want a good idea of exactly what he said)
(A few links, since they seem to act up a bit from time to time...)
Pastor Wants to Put Gays in Electrified Pen (should also be put in and see how he likes it)

Honestly, I'm hoping that one day we'll be able to post here saying "Yay! Gay Marriage Legalized!" but that looks like it'll be a while...

Re: The Pro-Gay/Anti-Gay Movement
I think it'll happen someday. I think it'll be our generation that probably changes it, too. And those pastors aren't very Christian if they're going around saying people should be murdered.

Many a person has been killed in the name of religion. Look at the Crusades.

This one makes me shake my head. "The Family Book" is a children's book that describes different kinds of families. It was banned in this school because it says, "Some families have two moms or two dads." Apparently, we should leave our kids in the dark because people being different is too "adult" for them.
Also, at the bottom is a thing of other books that have been banned, some of which made me roll my eyes.

I don't know what's up. We're heading back to the Dark Ages. I hope once our generation gets a little older and rises up to power and the generations before ours die off, everything will be better.

We can only hope, but I know enough anti-feminist/anti-gay people at my college. O.o
Re: The Pro-Gay/Anti-Gay Movement
The Oreo cookie's not alone. A lot of companies are starting to support the LGBT movement.
Re: The Pro-Gay/Anti-Gay Movement
Yeah, my friend was like, "That's stupid to stop eating Oreos just because they support gay rights. Would they stop drinking water if water companies supported gay rights?'

Re: The Pro-Gay/Anti-Gay Movement
I won't post the video, because this crazy old lady is surprisingly graphic.
Some crazy old lady in Nebraska went on an anti-LGBT rant in which she says all gays are homicidal or suicidal and that Whitney Houston was murdered by a Gay person, as well as claiming LGBT people don't live long because their ways are "unhealthy." She also is convinced they "molest young boys."
Crazy lady, I'm telling you. If you find the video, there's a guy in the background who pretty much represents most people's views on this crazy hag.

^"YOU AIN'T GOT NO PANCAKE MIX."
But that pastor sickens me to no end. So, my mother and my sister should be killed for being lesbians? Let me tell this mother something: My mother is an upstanding citizen. My sister is borderline okay, but I wouldn't put it past her to break some laws. My mother or my sister would never hurt or kill someone and quite frankly, I think Mr. Pastor Dude is a closet homo himself.

What bugs me is that he denies meaning what he says when it got out on the internet.

^ LOL
Seriously. It's on the Internet. Own up to it, because there is no turning back.

The arguments brought out to keep the Gay Marriage ban in California were sad. Very very sad.
Anyway, here are some of the questions that the court is considering.

Re: The Pro-Gay/Anti-Gay Movement
I love how fertility got thrown into the debate. I was wondering when that was going to happen. There are many straight married couples who do not have kids. Also, they mentioned how children raised by homosexual might be screwed up. They need to look around and see that there are many kids that are screwed up. Guess what? They were born to straight couples.
Since I am in Oklahoma, one of the most conservative states in the country, all hell is going to break loose if the decision is made in favor of the pro-gay movement. This is what I worry about. However, there are so many people in my generation that live here that are sick of the far-right. They're ruining this state. I know this is probably horrible to say, but I can't wait until this particular generation... to put it more nicely... dwindles out.

I know, right? And how many kids are born out of wedlock? It's a dumb argument.

To this screwed up child argument I say, "Simba was raised by two dudes and he turned out all right." But more seriously, My Two Moms: Lessons of Love, Strength, and What Makes a Family is a book written by a guy saying he was raised by two moms and turned out all right. Obviously if he could write a coherent book that was able to get published, he turned out okay.
My favorite argument to poke holes into, though, is the "marriage is a tradition that's been around for hundreds/thousands of years! Allowing gay-marriage will destroy the traditional definition of marriage. We can't break tradition!" To which I point out: Slavery's been around since before marriage. Murdering minorities has been around since the beginning of time. Should we allow this? Or their argument that "this country was founded on the ideals of marriage!" Which s incorrect, but assuming it was, then wasn't this country founded on murdering witches and enslaving people and annihilating non-Christian minorities as well?
Their arguments are just plain ridiculous. They need to get over themselves.

Now to rip apart one of their own and prove how unreasonable the conservatives are on this once again.
