A robotic hand, for a character in my story:


Equipped with a particle cannon in the center:

The readout features such things as a particle cannon charge indicator, an arm status indicator, vital signs of the user, and a remote control for his transport pod.

What I did with it for my senior yearbook page: (note the lack of the particle cannon here)

That big black thing:

The Cube is a mysterious object deep outside of human-space. It is a perfect cube with six perfectly smooth sides that absorb all light.

There was nothing on the surface. It was black, just as I had thought, and it was smooth. Not smooth like metal, as we think of it. Just so perfectly flat you couldn’t get even the slightest feeling of a texture at all. It felt like air, it was so perfect.

I landed on top of the cube and almost lost my balance before I took a single step. Not surprisingly, the top was as smooth as the sides. Walking carefully along towards the center, I scanned the ground the line I had spotted flying up here. When I found it, I discovered it was not a seam as I had predicted, but rather simply a dark grey line on the surface. Whatever it is this has to be something I thought. As soon as I touched it, I heard a creaking sound and jumped back. The other side of this line rose up, only a few meters; just as high as a person. A fine dust blew out as it came up, as though it had not been opened in a very long time. Cautiously, I walked towards it.

Today I have something interesting, a few of these renders are finished, a few are not, and my story has a hole to fill:

First, the K-7


The K-7 is an unmanned, variable geometry (swing wing) carrier aircraft. As such, it boasts STOL capability and redundant flight systems. It carries air-to-air missiles, general purpose guided bombs, and mounts a hard-hitting 45mm chain-cannon. The closed configuration allows high speed performance while the open configuration gives it low speed maneuverability.

X-27 Black Raven

The X-27 is unmatched in the air with long range missiles, superb speed and agility, and stealthy design. For dogfights, it has a pair of light lasers.

Here's where I need input: the following aircraft are all designs of mine. What I need to do is decide which are space and which are atmospheric (space fighters can enter the atmosphere if they are somewhat aerodynamic and have wing/wing-ish parts, but an atmospheric fighter can't leave (they need air))
The other thing I need to decide is what race these belong to. Right now they're all designed as if they were human fighters, but the race of advanced robots I have needs its own air/spacecraft.

X-13:

This guy I'm pretty sure this will be the standard human atmospheric fighter.

X-14:

Human space fighter, maybe.

X-16:

This I'm thinking a robotic version of this would be the robot's air fighter.

Diamondback:

This would be the robotic space fighter.

Nice. I really like the Black Raven. Are you making some sort of animated movie?

Yeah at some point. I'm not that good of a writer, but I think my ideas are great. I hope to produce a movie, using live actors but a mainly CG environment.

That sounds awesome.

It will be. That's my secondary dream though, so it probably won't happen for a long time.

You could find a really good screenwriter and be the CG and idea guy.
