The Original Character Roleplaying High School Part 2

Seraphim hadn't seen Zayden at all on the way home, so she was a little disappointed when she finally walked inside. She started setting up for dinner, and when Rena and the others walked in, she asked, "Are you both staying for dinner?"

"Yeah. Sorry if we're causing any more trouble for you." Eliot was relieved when Seraphim shook her head and went to get more food from the fridge.

"A veal stew in red sauce with rice," Seraphim replied, chopping the veal cutlets into chunks. "Can you cut up some onions and open the tomato sauce?"

Seraphim paused, then continued poking the meat she'd put in a pan to brown. "But you thought that for a while, didn't you?" she whispered back. "And when you think about it, it's better to have someone who isn't really your dad taking good care of you than someone who is your dad being terrible to you."

Seraphim nodded in agreement. "If it bothers you, then you should talk to him. That's all there is to it."

Eliot asked in some surprise, "You have a brother? Somehow you always struck me as an only child."

Dinner now finished, Seraphim brought the food to the kitchen table. "The food's ready," she called out to the others. She put out some glasses with Rena and Eliot's favorite drinks as well as a glass of water for herself, then hesitated on Temari's. "Um, what do you want to drink?"

Eliot sat at his spot at the table and popped open his can of ginger ale. "Looks good!"

Seraphim stepped outside and beamed when she saw Zayden. "Hi!" She poked her head back in and called to Rena, "I'm going to go ahead of you with Zayden, kay?" She went on ahead anyway. "Good morning, Zayden. Did you come to walk with me to school?"

Eliot was already at school, snoozing in the cafeteria. Rena had wanted to walk to school, so he'd gone ahead and was waiting for her at school.

Aden hopped out of his dad's car and hurried over to where he knew Yuuta was, mostly because he'd seen Temari go nuts just moments earlier. "Hey, Temari. Morning Yuuta."

"Slept as well as usual. Just not a morning person, usually." Eliot yawned. "So where's Seraphim? She walk to school on her own today?"

Eliot blinked. Once. Twice. No, she was serious. "They came in?" he repeated. "Did it hurt? What do they look like?" He hadn't quite believed she really was a fairy until she'd said that just now.

Seraphim giggled. "I'd love to walk to school with you," she said. She was blushing just a little from excitement. She hooked arms with him and they started for school.

"Hey, um, Zayden..." Seraphim said, a little shyly, "are we... um... more than friends?" She wasn't quite sure how to ask if he liked her or maybe even loved her.

"I bet they're beautiful," Eliot said. "But, I'm glad that it was your wings and nothing bad. I was really worried about you."

Aden looked over his shoulder. "Yeah, that's my dad. I thought he'd already left." He rubbed the back of his head, as if he could feel his dad's stare boring holes there. "He's going to interrogate me about you now. He doesn't exactly approve of smokers." He leaned in quickly. "He's one of those super religious rule-guys. He doesn't exactly know I'm... you know."

Seraphim blushed a little. "Well, yes. I mean... we're... Are we dating?" Though, if she'd thought a little more about what she'd said, she might have realized that Zayden might not know what dating meant.

"I'd love to!" Eliot said, grinning. "Did you have something in mind? Movie? Dinner?"

Aden shook his head. "Dad believes all that stuff the church says, including that homosexuality will make the human race die off, cause World War Three, bring Armageddon early, destroy the economy, and all that other stuff. Mom gets it, but she's always traveling for work."
